Canzone appassiunata   Lyrics

This tree went through all the seasons, when a sudden wind lash deprived it of all strength. His fruit are now bitter but the lover is still affectionate to his tree. The man still loves his girl. His heart once rejoiced in her company, but now he suffers from melancholy. He can't help his sufferings: the heart sees further than the head.
His tears fall into a flower-pot and make a rose bloom. He decides to send the rose to his beloved, because she's the cause of his tears and they made the flower grow. Before sending it he apologises with the rose in the case the woman would not treat it properly.
In the final verses the singer quotes another Neapolitan motto: forget about good actions but remember when you do wrong. Things are like this: he's a good fellow and behaves properly, while she's a nasty girl and makes him suffer.
